RM of Caron’s story
The Rural Municipality of Caron No. 162 sits in the southwest part of Saskatchewan. It was incorporated as a rural municipality on December 9, 1912.
Within its boundaries lies the village of Caronport, along with the organized hamlet of Caron and a scattering of localities including Abound, Archydal and Grayburn. The area is home to the endangered burrowing owl, and the long-billed curlew and smooth arid goosefoot are species of special concern in the ecoregion.
Travellers on the Trans Canada Highway can stop at the Besant Recreation Site. Today the RM is run by an elected council and an appointed administrator, who meet on the second Thursday of each month, and the municipal office is in Moose Jaw.
